Merry Meet!
There is love in the air, and we all know about it. Couples are getting loved up, there are gifts being sent to people from secret admirers, and the office in the Student Union where I work is over run with condom goodie bags and fake roses. Yes, Valentine's Day is well and truly here!
In our community, where sexuality is a major part of our faith, Valentine's Day is a fascinating day. There was in Rome, before Valentine's Day began, there was a celebration around the time where Valentine's Day is now observed, where animals were sacrificed and lust and love was celebrated. Then the Church came along, and invented the day to coincide with the old Pagan celebrations in order to keep the peace with the people. Just a bit of history that I picked up the other day when looking up stuff!
The ways that we celebrate this day can vary. I, of course, indulge in the commercial side of the occasion, and will always expect a gift and/or a trip out with my fiance, even if it will be unlikely. I also like to think about the idea of love in mythology, with goddesses such as Aphrodite coming to mind. The idea of petitioning her for love to appear in life is something that has happened since Ancient Greece.
Some witches will be asked to cast/give out love spells at this time of year. This can be interesting, as often we will ask the person who wants the spell cast to do it themselves, or we will make sure they are doing the spell for the right reason before giving them magical assistance. I love the idea of love spells, they seem so mysterious and romantic, not that I've actually cast one myself, I haven't ever needed to.
For all those who are single today, do not despair! Cast a glamour spell to love yourself, or have a bath filled with rose petals, eat chocolate, whatever takes your fancy. Remember you are loved by family and friends, so perhaps send them all cards to cheer them up today!
I hope you all have a lovely day, whether you are single or not!

Group Suggestion
I would like to suggest a possible participation avenue for our members - Pagan Book Reviews! Those who have books on Paganism, regardless of branch (Wiccan, Shamanic, Druidic, Technomancy, Celtic, Norse, American Indian, Egyptian, Shinto, Hindu, etc), are invited to write reviews of said books to be posted in a folder I will set aside for that purpose. The reason for inviting reviews of these books is to give all our members a library of books to peruse so they may chose, based on those reviews, the best ones to pick up and add to their personal libraries for research and learning along their chosen path. I would suggest th
A Spiritualist's Path
While there are many who walk the path of the Pagan Spiritual life, few are truly called to serve the Pagan community.
Back in 2004 after 10 years of exploration and research (since age 6) and another 14 years of practice and finding the many and varied nuances of my path, my own guides urged me to become Ordained, thus I did in March of that year. Over the past 10 years now, I have been asked to do a lot of personal meditation and reflection on my spiritual path, and recently, as some of you know, I was called to step forward as an Ordained Priestess and Elder to serve the community and teach those who come to me with questions. Thus why
A Few Words About Pagan Hostility
(Cross posted to my Personal Journal.)
I have been poking at various Pagan and Wiccan books over the years that I am guided to pick up and read (one's Spirit Guides and Spiritual Instincts can be so helpful in this capacity) and in reading them, I take serious consideration of the words written in them and do much meditation and conference with my Spirit Guides, as well as cross referencing to find the truth, or rather what feels right and true. However, as I was reading one book I picked up recently, I found an odd term that I thought I would research, wondering at the meaning and use of it. That is when I found out about a very disturbin
A word from your Founder
Merry meet to all!
I just wanted to drop everyone a note to apologize for my unexpected and long absence. I have had no internet since February 5th and was in the process of moving to become live-in aide for my mother, who's health and mobility is waning significantly. I just recently got internet access back at the new apartment about a week ago and have been frantically playing catch-up in various places. The move was very sudden and unexpected, so I really had no time to warn everyone before hand. While my on line time will be slightly more limited, I will still be on daily to oversee things and take care of what needs doing here and
